Seen through the eyes of my Kids!

Mother's Day was nice this year. As always, I asked for the kids to "Love one another, and no teasing!"  Their response was, "Mom, that's what you always say."  I guess I still haven't gotten my wish.
I love to read what my kids write about me and how they perceive being a mom.  Katanya was asked, "What does your mom do while you are at school?"  Her response was, "She goes running and sometimes she cleans."  I'm happy with that.  She also wrote that I was as pretty as a flower, my favorite thing to do is watch TV (I wish I had time for that), and that I always say "I Love You Too!"  So sweet!

In Cruz's story titled, "My Mother: A True Story", he said that I'm happy when he cleans his room (right); that his mom always forgets to sign his binder (mostly right).  When asked what he really likes about my is "she is always happy." (heart melting)  My looks include: I'm as tall as a fence, I way 148 (wrong) and I look best in dresses.  This makes it all worth it.
On another note, Jacob made this chair.  First he hunted down an old dumptruck chair last August.  I guess he still wanted a little of the construction life.  Then he found an industrial sewing machine in September with his "leftover tool money."  Finally a couple months ago, he started putting it together, piece by piece.  He sewed every stitch.  I'm quite impressed.  So now it's his new air chair on wheels.  What a nerd.....oops I mean genius.  Gotta love him.

When I grow up....

This week at school is "Education Go Get It Week." Monday was "I want to be a ...." day. So the kids got to sign a poster stating what they wanted to be. This started a wonderful conversation at dinner time. I thought I'd share....
Katanya wants to be a cat trainer. She made it clear by saying, "Not a lion or tiger trainer, but a cat trainer...C-A-T."
Cruz said he wanted to be a police officer. He also said it was because it was a safe job. (?????)
Kirsten thought long and hard. She first thought about being a vet because she loves pets and that way she would get to be around them. Then she realized that she would have to deal with blood and quickly changed her mind. She decided (at this age) to be a math teacher.
And last but certainly not least, McKay wants to play in an orchestra and be an actress. Oh my! I think that maybe having two orchestra periods (chamber for violin and advanced for cello) and getting a main character in the school play has fogged her thinking. : ) Kids will be kids and I love mine!

Got milk?

As we were headed up to Kamas to go fishing with my dad, one of my kids asked, "Mom is that milk?" (And it wasn't the youngest.)

inside those tiny little brains, the wheels keep turning

After one day of watching 3 of Betsy's kids and all of mine, I am still going strong. It's actually rather simple. Although McKay had the nerve to ask....(seriously)

Me: (I was tucking in the girls and giving them hugs.)
McKay: Mom, how was it with 7 kids today?

Me: Easier than I thought, it was great.
McKay: So does this mean you will have at least one more, maybe 2?
Me: (LOL.) Nope.

Gotta give it to her for trying, she never gives up.

it's been documented....

McKay: (while cleaning up after dinner) "I hate kitchen duty. My husband will always do the dishes when I get married."

Remind me to tell her this in another decade or so.

straight a's

Kirsten: Dad, Dad, Dad!

(Jake was in the other room but obviously heard. Finally, after several minutes he walked out.)

Jake: What do you need Kirsten?

Kirsten: Dad, when you were little, did you get straight A's?

Jake: Yes

Kirsten: Then why haven't you learned to listen?

I love how this girl speaks her mind........sometimes.

Question of the day?

CRUZ: Mom, Anya's poopy. Really.

(I find a diaper, wipes, and start changing her.)

CRUZ: See mom, I told you. It's brown poop. WHAT'S BROWN POOP CALLED?
