a super cute, super fab, new do!

McKay woke up one day and noticed that a good chunk of her hair had been cut / broke off? We aren't sure how it happened. Her friends teased her that maybe she did it in her sleep.
So on Monday (July 2nd) she decided to cut her hair.  She had been debating it for awhile and she finally committed.
Now, as we know, Jacob is not a big fan of short hair.  But I told the kids that however they want their hair, within reason, they could have it that way.
So she went with an A-Line and the bottom undercut.
I personally think it looks GREAT and super cute but I have always loved shorter hair.  Plus, it makes her hair look thicker.
McKay hasn't gotten used to it yet.  When I downloaded the pictures of the runway show she stated, "I miss my long hair.  Why did you let me cut it?"  Its a good thing she has fast growing hair.
P.S.  If you ever need a conversation starter (or a good laugh) ask Jacob what he thinks about bangs.

What have we been up to?

Wow. Where does the time go? Here's a little May update. We started off the month with friends over for dinner and we introduced them to Rock Band. How could you not have played Rock Band? This leads me to another story. For the past 9 years I have used the same hair stylist. Even when we moved to Idaho, I've kept going back to Utah to the same great girl that I trust, (and she is a good friend.) So after I had inches of roots showing, and getting sick of the "grow-out" stage, and not knowing how long it was til I could make it down, I tried a friend and old neighbor for a cut and color. This is HUGE for me. It turned out great and I'm happy with it.

Stay tuned throughout the day to see more.......(It gets better, I promise.)

Fire engine red

McKay got her wish....sort of.First it was black hair, then it was blue highlights. Blue highlights require bleach and after last year.....the rule was no bleach. So McKay talked her aunt Haley into red highlights....and then asked her mom. I love changing my hair color myself so I said, "Yes, just a few." The best thing is, when they fade out her hair will be back to normal. It turned out cute. What a spoiled girl.

The simplicity of short....and EASY

This past weekend while we were in Utah us girls had a little 'girl' time. This is what happened....

.... McKay wanted RED highlights.....( my 'blackmail' for cutting her hair. It was really dry and damaged)....

....Cutting....(Kirsten wanted the new petshops, that was her blackmail from dad, he was tired of her whining after every bath and every morning)....

.... her thick, THICK ponytail that was 11 inched long....

....and SMILING faces. No more crying every morning when I do her hair. No more knots. Was it worth the $$$....EVERY PENNY for me!

Do you trust your stylist?

Many times I have heard funny comments because my hair stylist lives in Utah and I live in Idaho. I haven't found anyone I like, or trust up here. Hence I was desperate for a hair cut and some kind of change that I planned a trip to Utah. I showed her the haircut (4 inches came off) and then told her that I wanted some sort of change and for it to be different. Something I haven't done. Although I did say I didn't want scary different, but cute different. I don't know why but my hair is one thing that I can handle change on with no problem.
So it is now it has a lot of blonde highlights with many of them being platinum. A few golden, a few a lighter shade of red and my natural brown underneath. It sounds scary but it's cute. The picture doesn't do it justice.

I LOVE IT!!!!

And for once Jake does too! Evcn the cut. That's the miracle.
