stuck in a rut-ish

I don't know exactly all the reasons but lately I feel like I have been stuck in a rut. Stuck in a lot of ways....especially my blogging. I've been slacking. I blame it mostly on the weather. When it gets as cold as it is now (in the minuses) and there is snow and everything is brown....it's just not very fun. It makes up want to stay home and inside where it's warm and cozy. Up until last Friday it had gotten warm and the snow was almost gone. Not anymore. So....

One FHE activity, we decided to update and create a new look and title for the blog. If we can't change the world on the outside, we can try to on the inside, (I think). It only took three weeks of waiting for a snow storm to get the first picture. (Lesson learned: when you are taking pictures in zero degree weather, your hands will freeze without gloves, even when you avoid getting them wet. This hurts!)

So here's to a better attitude, a happier view, and many cups of whipped hot chocolate!

patience and blessings

"Grant me PATIENCE to deal with my BLESSINGS." And while I need all the patience I can get while my oldest two go through sister rivalry....These two blessings can bring a smile to any one's face.

Destressify

It's my new word and my new "main" goal this year.

To DESTRESSIFY my life.

On the other hand.....I'm starting a running program...so since I have to, I think I see a half marathon sometime in the summer. Any suggestions?

It just keeps on going and going....

I guess this is what you get when you have to get the whole family up and out of the house by 6:30. Grumpy and sleep kids (and tired and lazy parents, notice the mac and cheese, something I would NEVER fix for DINNER.)
Poor Cruz. He tried so hard to stay awake while eating.
Those eyelids were just too heavy to keep open.
He did finish none the less. And this short 20 minute power nap gave him all the energy to go til 9:30. Too bad we can't sleep in tomorrow.

Bloody nose queen

Just thinking about it....I'm sure I could do a post on health and doctors every day this week. Just from things that has happened and things that Jake has thought. Anyway that's not the point today...... This picture is from our lovely beach vacation, and yes Katanya had a bloody nose. For the past three months Katanya has been having bloody noses at anytime. We had tried all the tricks; Vaseline, humidifier, neosporin, ayr, but none of them were a long lasting solution. After averaging 3-4 of these happenings a week (and that's not counting when she bumped her nose and then all went wild) the doctor finally cauterized both sides today. Surgery, anesthesia, and recovery went great and the patient is now home and sleeping in her own bed. I was amazed. She was happy the whole time and never cried once.

P.S. I'm hoping this makes sense because after two nights of no sleep, I'm not sure it does.

Back to Normal

Back to school, back to a schedule, back to the snow, back to reality......back to normal. I was ready for this. The past two weeks, I took off, or you could say I didn't do much. Jake asked me if this is what I did every day during the "normal" time.....yeah right. Now I know the new year has come and Christmas is past, but I have one more post. I'll post shortly with the new year.

McKay came back home yesterday. We all missed her.
As soon as we got home she wanted to open her presents. You see the sole gift that had been sitting there for the past 3 weeks before Christmas, that had been wrapped three times, had her name on it. So she opened the little presents first and saved the best for last. Her latest wish it to learn something new.............to play the violin.Lessons start tomorrow.
