practice makes perfect

We've become some of those parents.McKay normally does really well at practicing but last week she was lagging and not very motivated. Three days after her lesson and realizing she hadn't practiced at all, the words finally came out of our mouths. "McKay, you need to practice. No games or TV until it's done. All 20 minutes." I am sure of those of you related to Jake, you will be amazed that he has told McKay this plenty of times too. I guess when you get older, you can change your mind about practicing. Although....

....even with a little reminding, for the month she has been learning, she is doing a great job!

McKay! You are doing so well. I couldn't even make a sound out of my instrument for the first two months. I remember those days too...'Hannah Practice, Practice, Practice!' But I will say that I am happy I stuck with it. I love to come home and play for an hour to relax.

The hardest part about letting your kids do music is the daily practice!!! Once it's routine you're fine, then something happens to break up that routine and you have to start all over.

We have a daily rule that goes "practice first before you even ask for the computer or tv, or the answer is always no".

Right now we need to get back to that...we've been sick.

GOOD LUCK! She sounds like she'd learning fast.

McKay that rocks!way to go, I know it is hard when you just start the violin I played it for 5 or 6 years. Just take it from me it gets better and more fun the longer you play. Great job, I will have to bring my violin up next time and we will jam!
